Pumpkin Cookies
Ingredients 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 2 tablespoons dry milk 1 cup white flour 1/3 cup corn meal 1/2 cup oats 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 teaspoons cinnamon 3 tablespoons vegetable oil 1/2 cup canned pumpkin 1/2 cup water + 1 tablespoon water
Directions Mix everything in your mixer. This dough will be thick like cookie dough, so make sure that you use the appropriate beater. When the dough is mixed thoroughly, roll it into rectangular sheets that are 1/4" thick. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into 1/2 parallel strips. Don't move the stripsleave them in place on your cutting board. Now, at about a 45 degree angle, go back and cut parallel strips that are 1/2 apart. You will end up with diamonds that look like the biscuits in the photo. Or, if you want to make it easier, just cut the dough into little squares. The squares don't have to be perfectly even. Your dog will love them just the same! Transfer the pumpkin biscuits (squares or diamonds) to a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake the dog biscuits at 250 degrees F for about an hour. Since the biscuits are fairly small, they can brown fairly quickly. Check them occasionally toward the end of the baking time, to make sure that they are not getting too dark. Turn off the oven, and let the dog biscuits continue to dry overnight in the oven. When the dog treats are completely done, they will be hard, dry and crisp. They will be hard for you to break in your hands--and better for your dog's teeth.
You can store these pumpkin dog treats for a month or so at room temperature.

Peanut Butter Nuggets
Ingredients 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup white flour 1/2 cup oatmeal 1/4 cup dry milk 1 1/4 cups water 1/2 cup peanut butter 2 tablespoons blackstrap molasses 1 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast
Directions Knead the dough into a semi thick consistency. When the dough is ready, remove it and divide it into 3 pieces. Roll each chunk of dough into a sheet that is thick. Using an apple corer, press the corer hard onto the sheet of dough. This will make an indentation, but wont cut all the way through the dough. I just take a sharp knife and go over the indentations to cut the pieces. You will end up with shapes like the dog biscuits in the picture and a small circle that is in the middle. Place the dog treats on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake the treats at 300 degrees F for 45-60 minutes. Check them often to make sure that they dont get too brown. Turn off the oven and let the dog biscuits dry in the oven overnight until they are hard and crisp.

Cheese Biscuits
Ingredients 1 cup water 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup white flour 1/2 cup cornmeal 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese or cheddar cheese powder 1 tablespoon turmeric 2 tablespoons flax seeds 1 tablespoon dry milk
Directions Mix all ingredients in a large bowl, using your mixer. Use a beater that will handle heavier dough, as this will end up being thick like cookie dough. Divide the dough into 3 portions. Roll each ball of dough into a sheet that is ¼” thick, using a rolling pin dusted with flour (or with a cheesecloth cover). You can also use a new kind of non-stick rolling pin and avoid much of the mess! Using a pizza cutter (I use a large one because the process is much faster.) cut the dough into squares (or any shape that you like). Bake the biscuits on a greased baking sheet at 275 degrees F for 45-60 minutes. Check on the dog biscuits frequently to make sure that they don’t get too brown. Turn off the oven and let the dog treats continue to dry for several hours or overnight.
